“Without the generous support of Sue and Wes Dixon, the Hennepin & Hopper Lakes Restoration Project would never have made it off the drawing board and into the beautiful reality it is today,” said Albert Pyott, TWI’s chairman of the board. “The Dixons were there from the beginning for this project and have consistently been its strongest champions.” Sue & Wes Dixon are lifelong conservationists and environmentalists. “It is so gratifying to see a project come to fruition within our lifetime,” said Sue Dixon.
At the dedication, sculptor Jean Greene (photo below, left) unveiled three river otters cast in bronze as a tribute to the Dixons. The presence of real river otters at the restored wetlands is an indication of a healthy aquatic ecosystem, such as at Hennepin & Hopper Lakes.
