Fishing at Hennepin & Hopper Lakes

   

The 2008 Fishing Club Membership Form is now available here!

Hennepin & Hopper Lakes are open to public fishing on Friday and Saturday only. Members of the Hennepin & Hopper Lakes Fishing Club may fish any day of the week. To apply for membership, click here for the application, print it out, and mail to TWI. Annual membership is $250 for a “working” member; $350 for a “nonworking” member. A working member volunteers to work one full day each year to check in members and oversee fishing activities. Members may bring guests for $5 per person. Guests under 16 are free.

To protect the restoration areas, no shore fishing is allowed at any time. All anglers must use boats under 18 feet long with electric trolling motors only. Gas motors are not allowed on the lake at any time, even if you are not using the motor. Please read and follow the rules below.

Fishing Rules

1. All State and Site Specific Regulations apply.  Catches will be checked and appropriate state fines will be assessed.

2. All fishermen can be checked for bait, limits and all State and Site Specific Regulations.  Those who do not comply with being checked will be deemed guilty by default.  All violators will be suspended from fishing the Hennepin – Hopper Lakes for 12 months from date of infraction.

3.  All fishermen are instructed to fish at their own risk.

4. There will be a mailbox by the dock. In it will be a logbook that is required to be filled out by everyone.  This is for your safety.  The following will need to be entered:  Name, Membership Number or Guest(s), Date, Time in & Time out, Type of and Number of fish kept.

5. No frogs or turtles are to be taken at any time.

6.  No gas motors or gas operated units allowed on lake.  This includes gas powered augers for ice fishing.

7. Only electric trolling motors allowed.

8. Maximum boat length 18’.  Canoes and kayaks are exceptions to this rule.

9. Fishing from boats only.  NO shore fishing allowed.

10. Only live bait allowed are wax worms & worms.  NO minnows, crawfish, leeches, cut bait, etc.

12. Fishing allowed in area south of buoys only (see map).

13. NO alcoholic beverages allowed on lake at anytime.

14. No littering allowerd.

15. Parking lot is limited to 50 cars.

16. Fishing may be closed due to special events or weather conditions.

17. Site Manager has final authority on all decisions.

18. All guests will sign and execute the Release and Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement prior to engaging in any activities on Hennepin & Hopper Lakes or such guests’ entry and participation in activities is forbidden.
