Privacy Policy

The Wetlands Initiative is committed to protecting your privacy. We do not sell, trade, or provide your name or contact information, including email address, to any other organization. We will not conduct telephone solicitation.

We do not use this web site to collect any personally identifiable information about you other than what you provide voluntarily on our Contact Us or Donate pages.

We will only use your contact information for mailings pertaining to the mission and work of The Wetlands Initiative. If you provide us with an email address, we will use it only to distribute our own quarterly newsletters. At any time, you may choose to “unsubscribe” to the newsletter by following the instructions on the newsletter or email us to opt out.

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies,” which are text files placed on your computer, to help the Wetlands Initiative analyze how users use this site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address and the Wetlands Initiative web pages you visit) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of our website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. Google doesn't report to the Wetlands Initiative any personally identifiable information, including your IP address. Instead, Google Analytics provides aggregated data to help us make informed website development decisions. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser. By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above.

Online donations are processed through Skipjack Financial Services. Skipjack provides the highest levels of security available. Transactions are encrypted (secured) from the customer to the gateway. Credit card data is not stored by The Wetlands Initiative; only the last five digits of the credit card are visible to TWI staff from online donations. Each credit card transaction that is stored on Skipjack’s servers is individually encrypted using patent pending technology. Even in the unlikely event that one transaction is compromised, the rest remain intact.

Credit card donations made in writing will be entered into Skipjack by TWI staff. We will destroy your credit card information in our TWI office after the transaction is completed.

Our donor lists will be published in our Annual Report, which is posted on our web site and made available to the public. You can request to have your name removed from the published list.

If you have questions regarding our Privacy Policy or its implementation, please contact Laura Urban, Development Director, at twi@wetlands-initiative.org or by mail at 53 W. Jackson Blvd., Suite 1015, Chicago, IL 60604.
