Seeds at Sunset: Volunteer Native Seed Harvest at the Dixon Waterfowl Refuge

  • Sue and Wes Dixon Waterfowl Refuge 9231 Illinois 26 Hennepin, IL, 61327 United States (map)

Join us on Thursdays in August at the Dixon Waterfowl Refuge! Volunteers will join TWI staff in harvesting native seeds that will be replanted at the Refuge. This easy, family-friendly restoration activity is a great way to be a part of the ongoing restoration and management of the globally recognized Dixon Waterfowl Refuge and its diverse native habitats.

No experience is needed and kids are welcome, although children 16 years or younger must be accompanied by a parent or other chaperone. Dress for the outdoors with closed-toed shoes, long pants, and a sun hat. Bring a water bottle and we’ll supply the tools needed to harvest seeds.

All weekly volunteer opportunities in August will meet at the Bunkhouse. Click here for a map of the Dixon Refuge, located just south of Hennepin, Illinois, off Route 26.

Please email twi@wetlands-initiative.org if you plan to attend.
