Kick off the new year with a day of service restoring wetland habitat at Indian Ridge Marsh! Join The Wetlands Initiative and the Chicago Park District to assist in the spreading of native seed to contribute to the site’s ongoing wetland habitat restoration. No experience is needed for this fun and easy restoration activity.
Once we’re done spreading seeds, stick around for a short nature walk led by TWI staff to learn more about the site’s ongoing restoration efforts.
This is an outdoor event - please dress appropriately for cold weather (bring extra layers, gloves, hats, etc., to stay safe and warm). We recommend wearing warm and water-proof shoes in case of muddy conditions. Restoration areas are easily accessed from public trails; some bending and walking will be required.
Snacks and water will be provided. There will be a bonfire and port-a-johns will be on site. This activity is open to children and recommended for ages 8+.
Volunteers can park in the Indian Ridge Marsh lot or on 116th Street and then walk south towards the parking lot. Volunteers will gather in the parking lot before walking together towards seeding areas.
For questions or concerns, please email Marwah Saleh at msaleh@wetlands-initiative.org. Please register if you plan to attend.
