Help restore native habitats at the Dixon Waterfowl Refuge’s Sandy Hollow tract! Volunteers will plant plugs (seedlings) in prairie habitats at Sandy Hollow to contribute to the site’s ongoing restoration.
To help ensure a productive day of plug planting, we are offering two time slots for volunteers for this event:
Shift 1: 9:00am to Noon
Shift 2: 1:00pm to 3:30pm
Volunteers are welcome to join for whichever shift best suits their schedule, or stay for both if you’re up for a full day of work! Please bring a lunch if you plan to join us for the full day.
Snacks, water, tools, and gloves will be provided, though if you have your own gloves we encourage you to bring them. Please wear appropriate clothing for fieldwork (e.g., long pants, closed-toe shoes). Children 16 years old or younger must be accompanied by a parent or other chaperone.
Meet at the Sandy Hollow parking lot on the south end of the Refuge. Click here for a map of the Refuge that shows the different entrances.
Please email us at twi@wetlands-initiative.org if you plan to attend, and include which shift you will join us for. We hope to see you there!
